Josy
Our first physical stop: a circular station in the Josy Areal.
soil.d started online, but circular economies need a place too. At Josy, in Zürich, we're piloting a small physical station where plants, soil, substrates, and care time change hands, plus a citizen-science program that turns everyday soil care into open, shared data.
The station
A drop-off and pick-up point in the Josy Areal: bring plants, soil, or substrates you don't need, or come find what you're looking for. A self-service container extends the hours; the full exchange is tracked on soil.digital so trust and history travel with every item.
Workshops
From September 2026, we're running ten hands-on workshops at Josy: soil restoration, building your own monitoring kit, understanding soil health, the soil microbiome, fungi and mycelium, and a citizen-science check-in. See the full schedule.
Citizen science
Participants get simple DIY kits to observe their own soil and plants over time. Those observations build an open, community-generated dataset on urban soil health, something that doesn't exist yet for this neighborhood.
Why this exists
Josy is a pilot with a simple goal: less buying new, more circulating locally, and real, open knowledge about the soil we live on top of. Healthy soil holds water, stores carbon, and feeds the life a city depends on. Most of it here is sealed, tired, or thrown away.
